ISV Legacy Programs publishes anticipated immersion dates, general program timelines and opens application access for relative future immersions typically one (1) year in advance — and no fewer than nine (9) months prior to departure — to support thoughtful academic, professional, and financial planning. For those planning further ahead, future immersion seasons can generally be expected to follow a similar timeframe and calendar structure as the most recently published program year, allowing for long-range preparation with greater clarity and confidence. For programs departing more than one (1) year from now,
ISV Legacy Programs offers an Early Planning Application — Exact Dates Forthcoming option for individuals who prefer to plan early and secure priority consideration. While specific immersion dates and final program cost details are typically released approximately one year in advance, applicants may apply in advance under a “Exact Dates Forthcoming” designation. Upon acceptance, participants may secure their future cohort placement even before official dates are published. Any required deposit submitted after acceptance remains fully refundable up to forty-five (45) days prior to the confirmed departure date, providing flexibility while allowing you to plan ahead with confidence.
ISV Legacy typically publishes even more specific program details approximately three (3) months and one (1) month prior to departure. These specific updates are sent directly to confirmed applicants.
Participants are encouraged to review published future windows as planning guidance and to check this website periodically for updates as details are finalized within these timeframes.
If you have any questions at any time, you are always welcome to contact our team at info@isvlegacy.org

International Students Volunteer — Legacy Programs (ISV Legacy)—as the official steward of International Students Volunteers (ISV) programs, advances a long-standing legacy through proven frameworks that prioritize ethical engagement, educational integrity, and lasting community impact.
ISV Legacy programs begin with a structured service-learning immersion supported through HELP2SERVE.CARE, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. This phase reflects the organization’s charitable mission and long-standing community partnerships.
Following completion of the service-learning immersion, participants most often opt in to continue into Beyond the Project—a distinct phase of guided cultural exploration and experiential learning designed to deepen reflection, context, and understanding.
Yes!
The immersion dates listed on our website represent open-enrollment programs available to individual participants and groups.
Departures are fully customizable to align with your academic, institutional, and or mission focused calendar, cohort size, institutional priorities, and defined learning and service objectives.
Beyond our published dates, we maintain active international philanthropic partnerships that allow us to coordinate tailored group immersions with flexibility in duration, travel timing, service focus, and group size. Through our established host relationships and on-the-ground infrastructure, we are well-positioned to facilitate customized experiences — including larger cohorts or shorter planning timelines — while upholding the highest standards of safety, organization, and mission alignment.
For all 2026 and 2027 Signature 3-Week Immersion programs, anticipated total program investment ranges between $3,500 – $4,800, reflecting destination, seasonal logistics, and immersion program focus (health, conservation, or community development & education). For years 2028 and beyond, the anticipated total program investment ranges are yet to be determined and are typically published one (1) year in advance.
This total represents all expected program expenses for your fully all-inclusive 21 day immersion experience (excluding airfare, visas, and travel insurance).
Comprehensive inclusion details are outlined below.
We do not advertise a low base fee and add charges later. Your investment is transparent from the start.
Your final, all-inclusive program total — covering all expected expenses for your fully inclusive immersion experience (excluding airfare, visas, and travel insurance) — along with your customizable payment plan, will be provided in your official acceptance email after you submit your application. This total is based on your selected country, program focus, and dates.
Cohorts are intentionally limited in size to ensure mentorship and quality.
After your application is accepted a standard $500 deposit secures your placement in your chosen program and dates and is applied toward your total investment. To support thoughtful planning, deposits are fully refundable up to forty-five (45) days prior to the confirmed departure date. Should circumstances change after that time, deposits may be deferred and applied toward a future program.
Deposits are due within sixty (60) days of acceptance or no later than forty-five (45) days before departure — whichever occurs first. This structure is designed to provide clarity, flexibility, and adequate time for preparation.
We are committed to financial transparency, and all program investment details, payment timelines, and policies are clearly communicated in advance so volunteers can plan with confidence.
To preserve small, high-quality cohort experiences, placements are limited. Early application submission and timely deposit confirmation are recommended to secure your preferred program and dates.

You select your program—Health-Focused, Conservation, or Community Development and Childhood Education—based on your interests. If you are traveling with a group and wish to remain together, all group members must choose and be assigned to the same program and project, even when traveling to the same country.
Each program includes specific community partnerships located in different regions of the host country. These location-based placements are referred to as projects. On your application, you will indicate both your program preference and whether you wish to be placed with specific individuals or a group. This information helps us prioritize assigning you to the same project when traveling with others.
Consult your primary care provider regarding any medical considerations related to your ISV Legacy travel plans, including recommended vaccinations. These discussions should take place well in advance of your departure date.
Yes, all participants are required to have a passport.
Participants’ passports must be valid for 6 months past the date of their return date to their home country. If necessary, participants will need to renew their passports prior to departure to meet this requirement.
ISV also requires all participants to either scan and email, fax, or mail a photocopy of their passport photo page. A copy of your passport photo page is due to the ISV office at least 105 days prior to your departure date or on the date of your application if within 105 days of departure.

Participants originating from outside the United States and Canada please email your local ISV office for more information on travel insurance.
U.S and Canadian participants see the information below.
Participants are required to have traveler’s insurance that includes insurance for two purposes – coverage for medical treatment and care while in your host country and travel/trip cancellation coverage.
Many insurance carriers package these plans together with other travel-related issues such as lost or stolen items, for example, plane tickets, passports, and personal items. Cancellation insurance is important in the event that a problem arises that prevents you from going on the Program.
Policies do vary depending on the insurance provider, what country you travel to and what is covered, so make sure that you get a policy appropriate for your host country and your needs. Any travel agency should be able to assist you in procuring travel/trip cancellation insurance. Most travel insurance companies require you to purchase travel/trip cancellation insurance within 14 days after submitting your Agreement and paying your non-refundable deposit.
Some past volunteers have shared positive experiences using Travel Guard (U.S. and Canada only). That said, choosing a travel insurance provider is a personal decision, and participants are free to select the company that best fits their individual needs.
Responsibility for documentation and visa and transit costs

Each participant must send a photocopy of proof of both travel/trip cancellation and medical insurance to the ISV Legacy office. Proof of travel/trip cancellation and medical insurance is due at the ISV Legacy office at least 45 days prior to departure.

Please know the official ISV Legacy Participant Immersion Manual will always serve as the most accurate and up-to-date source for your confirmed itinerary and program details. Participants will receive a finalized ISV Legacy Participant Immersion Manual approximately 30 days prior to departure, which will include even more details related to days and dates of specific pre-departure and in-country accommodations, activities, and logistical details. We strongly encourage reviewing this document shortly before travel and bringing your e-version with you, as it contains the most up-to-date and authoritative information.
The Immersion Manual will also be reviewed during a mandatory pre-departure orientation, conducted via video conference approximately two weeks prior to departure. This session will include additional program details and a live question-and-answer segment(s) to address any remaining questions.
In addition, ISV Legacy requires all participants to attend a mandatory In-Host Country Welcome Meeting for each program and project. This meeting typically takes place at the in-host country airport on arrival—often in or near the terminal lobby or outside the security area—based on what is most appropriate for your specific program and project.
The designated in-host country arrival airport, exact date, and approximate start time for the In-Host Country Welcome Meeting will be provided to all confirmed participants at least ninety (90) days prior to the immersion start date. This communication will also include your official program in-host country departure airport, the confirmed departure date, and a suggested departure time window to assist you in securing appropriate return flights. We strongly recommend waiting for this official confirmation before purchasing international airfare.
The In-Host Country Welcome Meeting is held on the same day the Spanish Language and Cultural Immersion Program concludes.
Additional details will be provided in your Immersion Manual, which is distributed approximately 30 days prior to departure.
In summary, in addition to the In-Host Country Welcome Meeting, participants will attend:
Our itineraries, programs, and projects are thoughtfully designed and may be refined throughout the year to reflect improvements based on participant feedback, local conditions, and ongoing program evaluation. Please know the images, descriptions, and sample itineraries on our website are designed to reflect actual in-country experiences as closely as possible. However, because each program and cultural exploration experience is scheduled around specific immersion dates, details may vary depending on the dates you select and the program you choose.
Volunteers retain full discretion to opt in or out of the Beyond the Project: Cultural Exploration Through Shared Experiential Adventure & Immersion phase, as well as any specific activities offered within this phase of the program.
When you select a program and before you submit your application, you’ll receive more detailed immersion information specific to your chosen program, including dates, activities, and logistics. While plans are carefully finalized in advance, minor adjustments to schedules, activities, and/or accommodations may still occur to ensure the best possible experience.
